It can seem like one of the simplest things to do around the house, but when it comes to changing your duvet cover, many people get tied up in all the material and flustered that the corners do not meet. Well not any more. For a step by step guide of changing your duvet cover, this is the article for you.

Step 1
First things first, strip your bed of the duvet cover which needs washing. You will then be free from excess material which will slow down the bed changing process. The more room you have the better, especially if you have a king sixe duvet cover or even a super king.

Step 2
You need to turn the new duvet cover inside out to begin with. When you start trying to fit the blanket inside the duvet cover it will become clear why we do this. Lay the blanket itself onto the bed as you would sleep under it, , normally with the two widest sides at the sides of the bed.

Step 3
So, next you need to grab onto the two corners of the duvet cover which correspond with the two end corners of the blanket. On a traditional duvet cover this will be the two corners which are not at the opening of the cover. bunch the material over your arms to stop it from falling over your head as you find the corners.

Step 4
Once you have hold of the corners it is time to find the corresponding corners of the blanket you want to cover. If you laid it out as described in step 2 then you should be stood at the bottom of your bed. Make sure you firmly grip both the corners of the duvet cover and the blanket.

Step 5
Now it’s time for the best bit. Because I am only 5’5” it can be a struggle to get the duvet cover to surround the entire length of the blanket. With both corners firmly in hand, stand on the bed and give yourself a shake, which will make the duvet cover slide down the blanket. If you are a lot shorter than the duvet then hang it off the bed and you will have more room to work with.

Step 6
If you have shaken hard enough then the duvet should now totally cover the blanket and you will be able to fasten the buttons or poppers. Shake the duvet once again when it has been fastened and you will have a nice bed to sleep in, although you won’t be worn out when it is this easy to make your bed.
