Consumers have available to them a huge selection of bed linen in a wide range of colours and materials. Many are happy to stick with the budget bedding that is readily available and will never consider splashing out what they could see as silly money. Others will be more than happy to hand over their well earned cash in the hope that the quality they are paying for will give them the comfort they crave. Is the extra cost really worth it?

Textiles

The textile of the bed linen is the major factor over how it is priced. The luxury materials of satin and silk usually cost the most, with cotton being a cheaper option.

Cosy

Although most feel that satin and silk provide a real cosiness to the bedroom, it should be noted that both materials drape naturally, clinging to your body. So if you prefer having freedom to move about then they may not be the right option for you. But you can still spoil yourself with high quality cotton bedding- the higher thread count you opt for the more comfort you get. Considering how much time we all spend in our beds, comfort is surely the most important factor when buying bed linen.

Length of use

Another important issue we must consider is how long the bedding will actually last. There is no point investing a lot of money only to find that the sheets begin to deteriorate quickly. Thankfully you do tend to get what you pay for and more expensive bed linen will last longer, with quality cotton sheets getting softer the more that you wash them and silk and satin sets lasting for several years.

The amount that you decide to spend on your bedding should ultimately be driven by your own preference. If you have always gone for the cheaper option and never suffered from lack of sleep then you may wish to keep on being frugal. But those who find it difficult to sleep soundly should consider paying that bit more for their bed linen.

It can seem like one of the simplest things to do around the house, but when it comes to changing your duvet cover, many people get tied up in all the material and flustered that the corners do not meet. Well not any more. For a step by step guide of changing your duvet cover, this is the article for you.

Step 1
First things first, strip your bed of the duvet cover which needs washing. You will then be free from excess material which will slow down the bed changing process. The more room you have the better, especially if you have a king sixe duvet cover or even a super king.

Step 2
You need to turn the new duvet cover inside out to begin with. When you start trying to fit the blanket inside the duvet cover it will become clear why we do this. Lay the blanket itself onto the bed as you would sleep under it, , normally with the two widest sides at the sides of the bed.

Step 3
So, next you need to grab onto the two corners of the duvet cover which correspond with the two end corners of the blanket. On a traditional duvet cover this will be the two corners which are not at the opening of the cover. bunch the material over your arms to stop it from falling over your head as you find the corners.

Step 4
Once you have hold of the corners it is time to find the corresponding corners of the blanket you want to cover. If you laid it out as described in step 2 then you should be stood at the bottom of your bed. Make sure you firmly grip both the corners of the duvet cover and the blanket.

Step 5
Now it’s time for the best bit. Because I am only 5’5” it can be a struggle to get the duvet cover to surround the entire length of the blanket. With both corners firmly in hand, stand on the bed and give yourself a shake, which will make the duvet cover slide down the blanket. If you are a lot shorter than the duvet then hang it off the bed and you will have more room to work with.

Step 6
If you have shaken hard enough then the duvet should now totally cover the blanket and you will be able to fasten the buttons or poppers. Shake the duvet once again when it has been fastened and you will have a nice bed to sleep in, although you won’t be worn out when it is this easy to make your bed.

If you think about the amount of time that we spend sleeping typically 8 to 10 hours then it makes sense to invest in linen that is both comfortable and stylish. Read about some qualities to look out for when purchasing bed linen and duvets.

If you are interested in comparing bed linen and the types of linen the following will be of interest to you: bed linen specifications, luxury flannel bed linens, bed linen companies australia

The amount of heat that a duvet will be able to retain is measured in togs which is the thermal resistance of the blanket. If you find that you normally feel hot and uncomfortable when you are asleep then you would choose one with a low tog rating such as 4.5. On the other hand if you feel cold at night then a duvet with a higher tog rating . So you can actually buy duvets to use in the different seasons.

It is possible to get a combo duvet that will be able to adapt to all the seasons. It is comprised of a 4.0 Tog duvet and a 9.5 Tog duvet. Do the maths and you have a three in one right?

Seclecting the size is also important. When it comes to size make sure you get the right one. A smaller size duvet won’t look presentable and wont trap as much heat. An oversize duvet will get dirty easily and will also not look presentable.

Pillows

This by far one of the most important considerations when buying bedding material. Most sleep related disorders and pains can be linked to pillows. If you’ve ever woken up with a stiff neck and you couldn’t turn your head you will know what I mean. Pillows that will bend or stretch the neck are really not desirable. You can always test a pillow to see if it is comfortable for you before you buy it.

Bed Linen

You will come across different kinds of bed linen and not all bed linen is made out of linen. This gives the different kinds different qualities in terms of heat retention, strength and durability. While it may look stylish and beautiful find out what its made of first and the implications of that to the weather you live in.

In the following article you will find the factors you need to consider when buying linen. Go through it quickly and you will soon know how pick out the best linen.

You will be able to find some great bed linen ideas from any pf these:

paisley bedlinen, gingerlily bedding, bed linen reviews

Whilst no-one might ever get to see the inside of your bedroom let alone your linen it is no reason why shouldn’t get the best on the market. This is your space and you should be comfortable and relaxed in it and quality bed linen can give you that feeling. So many kinds of linen are on the market today and choosing the best can be a bit of a problem

The one thing that I’m sure you already know about when it comes to bed linen is thread count. Did you know that this fact is over rated and there are other factors to consider that make thread count rather insignificant? If you had to take the fiber that is used into consideration then you would see that thread count is not a measure to use when buying sheets.

What do I mean? You could have a sheet that is let’s say 1 000 in thread count but made from nylon and one that is 600 and made from Egyptian cotton. the Egyptian cotton sheet is both softer and stronger. There are also types that do no need ironing and the ones that do. If you are like me and do not like ironing then you might consider polycotton sheets.

The finish is another thing to take into consideration. The finish is a process that is meant to reduce wrinkling and maintain the color. It has to do with the way the material feels after it’s done. Another consideration is the size of the yarn although some prefer to call it the weave. The more strands a material has then the stronger and finer the linen will be.

When you next purchase your bed linen think about these things and see whether the price matches all the above factors.
