Making the Bathroom a Spa-Like Environment

A spa getaway is great for someone who is stressed from life events or just looking for a break from daily life. Many people plan vacations around trips to the spa. They may book a trip to a resort that offers spa services. In some instances, the whole purpose of the resort is to indulge people in a spa environment. These destinations include fitness classes, body treatments, delicious, healthy moods, and plenty of opportunity for relaxation and reflection. Just a couple of days is usually all people need to make them feel like a whole new person. However, spa resorts often cost a lot of money. The hotel stay may be affordable, but if the activities and services cost more, you may find yourself shelling out big bucks. What if you need a break from things and you want to indulge your body and spirit but it is not in the budget? Try creating a spa environment to your doorstep. You can turn your own bathroom into a place that is serene and comfortable, creating an environment just as good as an expensive resort in which to relax. Your walk in shower can be an herbal steam room and your walk tub can be a place to sit and enjoy the steam of the hot water.

In addition to creating your own personal steam room, fill the bathroom with luxury items. Be sure to have a bath pillow for when you are soaking in the water and include Epsom salts and essential oils when soaking. In many ways, soaking in a hot bathtub while inhaling scented oils can be as relaxing as a full body massage. When you step out of the bath, wrap yourself in a soft, cozy robe. You can then take some time to pamper yourself with scented lotion. This is also a great time to lay back with a cooling compress on your eyes and think pleasant thoughts.

To really make this spa resort experience complete, plan some relaxing activities for your time. You can get up at dawn and go for a walk in the park, or stroll somewhere while the sun sets. You can also plan meals that are extra healthy and feature lots of raw, natural foods. Be sure to drink plenty of water, especially if you are enjoying a steam room and exercising. Do not tax yourself. If you usually work out hard, try going slower and just enjoying the experience. Your body will not deteriorate if you skip your usual hour of hard cardio. It is important to relax and spend time reflecting on the tension leaving your body. You can also spend time reading or writing, but try to stay away from television and news programs. While creating a spa at home can seem challenging, it can be done, and will leave you feeling refreshed and renewed.
