Everyone wants a room that they can entertain in. In the past, it was once a normal event when company came over and the parents would laugh and talk during the visit while the children would run around playing. Today, socializing is not done at all and when it is, it is only occasionally. So how do you bring back the socialization and entertainment to your home? It’s easy to do.
When you entertain and socialize you feel better about yourself. We all need to do more socializing in order to stay happy and to have some way of communicating with the outside world. Socializing also keeps us up on the latest news and inventions. It is also a great time to sit down with someone other than the immediate family in order to eat a meal with your company. You can go out to eat with everyone but its much more rewarding to fix the meal yourself.
In order to make your home feel more welcoming and inviting you may want to consider doing the following:
- Have a certain room just for sitting and talking. In this room you may want to add a stereo system for easy listening music that will not change the mood.
- Lighting is everything. It’s not that hard to add studio lights in the darker corners of the room. You may also want to put a balanced lamp in the room that can stay on at all times. This will also allow the room to be more relaxed then turning on a bright over head light.
- Make sure that you have plenty of places to sit. Color coordinate the furniture so that the colors do not look so bland. If you have a beige chair, couch, recliner, and love seat, chances are you are going to feel very dull when you are in this room. Add a few dark colors, a few bright colors, some neutral colors and some of your favorite colors as well. Mixing the colors up can say a lot for a room. Even an area rug on the floor can provide extra seating especially if it is a lush shag area rug or natural wool flokati area rug.
- Add a fish aquarium to the room in order to give it a more relaxing feel to it. When you add the aquarium to your room it also becomes the centerpiece that everyone will stop to look at and talk about. Fish swimming around in the tank can calm the most upset people while the trickle of water in the aquarium can provide inner peace.
The wall decor is just as important. Selecting decor that is too bright can be very distracting. Not having enough decor on the wall can give a drab look and make you feel tired or bored. It’s important to find the right look. Don’t go changing the paint on your walls in order to achieve a “perfect” look, there is no way to do that. Instead, look to enhance your color that you presently have and the rest will flow naturally. It’s not easy to get the right look but don’t let them stop you from entertaining.
