It might be a good idea to take out an insurance policy on your hot tub before the moving commences.
Groundwork Before the Hot Tub is Moved
When you move a hot tub you will normally have to dismantle it first, it is therefore a good idea to contact the manufacturer before you move. They will also be able to warn you of any complications or problems that can occur when you move a hot tub, or they can offer valuable advice on the best method to use when having to move a hot tub. This is important because different makes and models of hot tubs can vary drastically and each hot tub may have characteristics that are peculiar to it.
One tip that applies to all hot tubs is that, when planning to move it, the entire equipment pact must be serviced beforehand (the equipment pact includes the filter, blower, heater, pump, and electrical and plumbing units). Many hot tub manufacturers also advise that the equipment pact be removed, drained, and packed separately to ensure that it is not damaged in the move. This is not always possible; however, as some makes’ or models’ equipment pact cannot be removed from the shell of the hot tub.
Obviously, it is important to ensure that it is properly drained before you move a hot tub. If there is even a small amount of water left in the hot tub, this can cause damage to the hot tub and other appliances during the move. If you do not know how to drain your hot tub, find out from a dealer or manufacturer. It is a good skill to learn as you will find yourself in other situations in the future where you will need to know how to do this.
If you are moving from a warm climate to a colder climate, it is imperative that the entire pump is also drained. If water freezes in the pump it can cause major damage to the pipes. The draining of the pump should ideally be done by someone with the correct expertise in these matters.
When the Hot Tub Arrives
When your hot tub is delivered to its destination, do not forget to give it a thorough inspection before you sign for goods delivered/received. If need be, make a note of any damage or unsatisfactory service so that the moving company can be held accountable for the repairs.
