I don’t think i’m allowed to paint but i’m going to ask if i can paint the dull white walls a brighter white.

    can you paint the walls?
If so… any color that you love will work with the dull yellow tiles
..add color with towels, shower curtain, bath rug, a favorite picture/poster on the wall

ask the landlord what they would knock off the rent to tear that crap out and update it

Your are stuck with the dull yellow tiles at the bottom so you have to work with them. I suggest your paint your bathroom a deep brown almost a chocolate brown or if you don’t like dark colours a mid brown. But a shower curtain with brown and yellow in it and a throw rug that is brown. If you can afford it change the toilet set to a brown as well. Your eye will be attracted to dark colour and not the yellow tiles. Blue would also work.

    Good luck

First I would find a wallpaper boarder (usually something most landlords don’t mind) that you like to jazz it up between the yellow and the white. I’m assuming the landlord doesn’t want to tear out the tile. Incorporate some fun color towels, orange, blues, greens (these colors are all in the decorating world right now as "hot"). Perhaps purchase some small accessories to go with your new boarder and without alot of expense you have a total make over.

I’m assuming you can’t change out the tile, sink, toilet, tub, etc. due to it being an apartment? If you rent, will your landlord let you paint and do you want to do that? If you own the apartment and depending upon budget and what you like, you could change it all…

I’m not a fan of yellow myself, especially in bathrooms and kitchens. That said, almost any color goes well with pale yellow and the ways to decorate using paint and accessories or just accessories are limitless. How much light does your bathroom have? Would it be okay to go with a dark color like black? Do you have a shower door, or could you accessorize with a shower curtain?

To me, in a bathroom, less is more. And personally, I would use the pale yellow as a neutral for more bright hues if light were an issue, or more dark hues if it weren’t and I wanted to go more contemporary/sophisticated. Or more neutrals, if I just wanted relaxing.

Hand towels, shower curtain, soap dish, toothbrush holder, trash can, laundry hamper, over the toilet unit if storage is a problem, artwork, etc. could be some accessories used. Or you could get really creative and use salvage pieces or things you already have but repurpose in the bathroom…just depends on your taste and the time, money, etc. you have.

Sorry to not be more specific – good luck! (:

Are you allowed to paint? If so, I would totally paint the walls a nice blue, like "scanda" by Sherwin Williams. If not, you might at least be able to freshen/brighten up the white paint. Regardless, I would either go for a beach theme or a country cottage theme. Choose towels & a tank set in a sky blue or ocean blue, or maybe a coral color.

Here is a pretty starfish shower curtain if you go for a beach theme:

Or if you prefer the cottage, here is a pretty blue & yellow toile:

There are lots of smaller projects to add color, lighting, or accessorize that will rev up the look of your bathroom, without spending a lot of money, while waiting for a major remodel.

First you need to decide on what kind of mood you want to create. Dull/pale yellow is a great color to work with. Any dark colors from black, grey, deep reds, blues/teals, burnt orange. It all depends on your personallity and the mood you want to create. Work in 3’s. 3 colors. You already have the yellow tile, so work with it. For example: paint the walls a medium shade of grey (match the shades to your tile first, make sure they blend nicely) and use black towels and asseccories to bring it all together. Or deep burnt orange and use black asscessories. If you go to dark in paint like browns, teals, blues or greens, use a color that would be an inbetween color for your accessories. A darker brown would use more like an olive or medium teal color accessories.

I would go with one main color so that it all matches, and white would be goog because it makes it seem clean and it will go with any color of towels or decoration you may want.

Yellow, white, and royal or navy blue is a classic combination.

Buy a shower curatin that incorporates all 3 colors.

Add navy or royal blue towels, rugs, and other accessories (candles, etc).

It should be easy to find prints (pictures) with these colors as well. A blue vase with yellow and white flowers will repeat the clors and add a finishing touch.

    Hope this helps. :)
